Growing the profession involves both the cultivation of our existing members and the development of new ones. 

An effective and efficient recruitment programme is essential to safeguard the future of the profession, ensuring that the legacy of our existing members – competent service delivery to business and society – is maintained. 

Through the proactive promotion of the benefits and attractions of a career in surveying, we try to ensure there are no skill gaps. We want employers to have an able, competent pool of talent that can be harnessed for the benefit of the property world and its customers.

Through the creation of highly effective member services and local service delivery networks, we aim to retain members' confidence in RICS as their efficient and effective professional body. 

Our regular membership surveys have identified that the provision of frontline services is increasingly important to members. Our investments to date in these areas have been recognised and welcomed. 

To grow the profession we will:

• Focus on specific geographic and market sectors which are of strategic importance and essential to delivery of our mission
• Provide effective member service operations
• Develop partnerships with employers and other relevant bodies
• Anticipate and respond rapidly to market developments
• Forge partnerships and alliances that support development of understanding of the profession and its standards
