On 22 March 2007 60 newly-qualified chartered surveyors attended the annual RICS Scotland diploma ceremony at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.
The occasion marked an important milestone in their careers, and was an opportunity to celebrate their success with family, friends and colleagues.
RICS President, Graham Chase, attended the ceremony to distribute the diplomas in a ceremony similar to a university graduation. As each diplomate took to the stage their name was called by RICS Scotland Director, Graeme Hartley and they spent a minute discussing their experiences with the President.
matrics Scotland Chairman, Gus Simpson, also attended and gave a speech congratulating the new members and outlining the benefits of RICS matrics involvement.
Due to work and personal commitments, a number of members were unable to attend the ceremony, however their achievement was recognised in a full page advert in that day’s Scotsman. This listed the names and firms of all those who successfully completed their APC/ATC in the November and Spring assessments.
Event Manager, Joanne Noble, who co-ordinated the event summed up the proceedings: “It is always lovely to see the newly-elected members celebrating their achievements in front of their family. It was a great occasion.”
The drinks reception was sponsored by specialist surveying recruitment agency, Judd Farris.
