The e-Planning Programme is a £10 million Scottish Government-funded project that will shortly deliver a step change in the way the planning system is delivered, moving planning from a paper based process to electronic ways of working.

e-Planning will allow development plans to be viewed online, planning applications and appeals to be submitted electronically and progress and decisions to be tracked on the web. It will remove many activities which add little value to the process or the outcome, freeing up time and resources to focus on the issues that matter. It will benefit private sector professionals by bringing them closer to the process and the decisions, increasing the availability of information and providing more efficient ways to interact with the system.

Graham Jones is the e-Planning Programme Leader and a principal planner. He has worked for the Scottish Government as a professional planner for seven years on a range of projects. In his presentation, Graham will provide an overview of the Programme, demonstrate how the new systems operate and explain how users can make the most of benefits.
