Lifelong Learning (LLL)
In accordance with Rule 6 under the new rules, Members need to undertake and record appropriate lifelong learning and provide evidence of having done so to RICS.
The aim of lifelong learning is to:
- Improve your professional competence
- Demonstrate how you have maintained professional competence
You can demonstrate that you have complied with this rule if you plan, carry out and record an annual program of learning activities designed to maintain competence and improve professional knowledge.
For further information on lifelong learning qualifying activities, see the related article titled ‘Qualifying Activities’.
Quantity and Quality
RICS does not prescribe a set number of hours for lifelong learning. It simply requires the learning to be effective, enabling members to do their work more competently. The outcome of the learning is more important than the number of hours spent on it.
