RICS has responded to the Academy for Sustainable Communities' consultation on the Draft Brownfield Strategy.
Key points from the submission are:
• Further information is required on how the four objectives identified by the ASC for delivering brownfield skills will be achieved.
• The establishment of an innovation fund to support implementation of the brownfield skills strategy is supported although it is not clear who will pay for this fund, what size the fund will be and how this will be made available.
• More information is needed on the national brownfield knowledge web portal. Support processes for e-learning should be in place.
• There should be a continuing emphasis upon life long learning and enhancement of skills.
• Clarity is required as to how the practitioners will provide toolkits, knowledge bases and working practices to aid the management of brownfield projects.
• Further information is needed on the proposed development of project knowledge banks by project managers.
