Review of Guidance Notes
The Faculty has undertaken a substantive review of the current editions (UK) of Surveyors Acting as Expert Witnesses (Practice Statement & Guidance Note) and Chartered Surveyors Acting as Advocates (Guidance Note).
New editions are expected in 2008, and will be available free for RICS members to download from the Knowledge Zone or buy in hardcopy from RICS Books.
The current advocacy Guidance Note is being supplemented by the introduction of an advocacy practice statement (a combined edition).
A revised version of the guidance note Surveyors Acting as Adjudicators (England & Wales) has been prepared and will be available to members in 2008.
Expert witness and advocacy: UK regional roadshows
are being planned to accompany the entry into force of the new expert witness and advocacy documents, giving guidance on some of the changes of approach and emphasis required.
These events will be publicised through a range of RICS media, including Faculty e-briefs, when finalised and open for bookings.
Anti-money laundering legislation
The faculty played a key role in getting the CIC to set up a cross-body working group to look at the implications of UK government anti-money laundering legislation.
This led to a CIC liability panel briefing note on Dispute Resolution in the Context of Money Laundering, whose contents are supported by the Faculty.
