RICS Oceania is proposing to launch the Occupier Satisfaction Index (OSI), an annual report that will measure and produce an index to track occupier satisfaction across the commercial property industry.
Following the success of the UK Occupier Satisfaction Index RICS Oceania are seeking a three-year roll out in Australia with the first report due out six months after commencement of the data collection.
RICS, in association with IPD and Kingsley Lipsey Morgan, can offer you the opportunity to be aligned with one of the major occupier surveys in the region and to promote your brand and services to a large targeted market.
How to contribute
If you would like the opportunity to be a contributing organisation for the research please contact Jillian Carney at RICS t +61 8 9225 4011 e j.carney@rics.org.au.

This research project will focus on hard evidence of what occupiers really think and provide a new benchmark which we hope will be of value to the industry and its many stakeholders.
The index is anticipated to be the first initiative of its type to have been commissioned by a representative body from the occupier, owner and wider property community.
RICS believes that this report will educate the industry on service standards within commercial property and act as a catalyst for innovation and change.
This research focuses on the hard, rather than anecdotal, evidence of what occupiers really think and provides a new benchmark which we hope will be of value to the industry and its many stakeholders.
The benefits are extensive:
-
Recognition in the industry as an organisation with concern for its customers
-
the opportunity to be part of a project that gets to the heart of the landlord tenant relationship
-
the ability to provide leading indicators of future investment performance
-
national and international brand promotion to a targeted audience
-
the ability to develop service products for their members and clients
-
the ability to target tenant satisfaction issues
The Aim
It is important to measure occupier satisfaction to highlight demand for potential products and services that can:
- increase earnings
- improve tenant retention
- put your company ahead of the rest as an 'enlightened owner’.
The OSI will provide invaluable insight into how the property industry and its service suppliers are perceived.
The index will set out the facts upon which to initiate a proactive programme of service improvements which will lead to greater customer satisfaction, improved tenant retention, reduced void rates and improved financial performance.
The survey will measure components of satisfaction such as communication, responsiveness, problem resolution and innovation.
It will comment on the range and type of commercial property available, the availability of property on terms appropriate to business needs.
The survey will also look at sustainability and corporate and social responsibility issues.
