Planning - Citing developments, wherever possible, in safe locations; Technical and investment risk management
Building Control - Advising on proper building standards, taking account of reasonably foreseeable hazards, for example, in areas prone to earthquakes, flooding, hurricanes, etc.; planning, supervision
Asset and Facilities Management - Asset and facilities strategies; Disaster recovery planning and testing covering all aspects of building occupation, including business continuity (in its industry-accepted broadest sense, to include communities).

Spatial Data (assessing scale and location of destruction) - Rapid assessment of the extent of destruction from “before and after” satellite imaging and aerial photography, for example, immediate intelligence on damaged infrastructure
Dangerous structures - Assessing structural damage; e.g. which buildings are in danger of imminent collapse; Specifying emergency repairs
Business relocation - Property managers and estate agents pooling knowledge urgently to identify alternative accommodation (as seen, for example, following 9/11)

Planning and development - Master planning, to avoid ad hoc, inefficient and unsustainable reconstruction; Advice on finance, development controls ; Asset and facilities strategies; Development management; Technical and investment risk management; Asset and facilities management
Construction procurement - Commissioning construction work according to best practice, involving due diligence to avoid misuse of aid; Strategic procurement, contract advice and dispute resolution; Prime contracting
Project management and cost control - Delivering completed projects on time and within budget to maximise use of aid; Programme, project and construction management; Commercial management, quantity surveying and value management; Safety, health and environmental management; Supply chain management; Risk management; Enabling technologies
