The National Seminar on Facilities & Maintenance Management in the 21st Century,held on 12 August 2008 at University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, was organized by the Faculty of Built Environment, University of Malaya in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA. RICS was one of the supporting partners for the seminar which brought together academicians and practitioners, who are involving in facilities management from various backgrounds in the Built Environment field.

The seminar’s main aim was to provide the state-of-the-art information and knowledge in the challenging world of facilities and maintenance management and also to provide a platform for local practitioners to present on the current situation.

National and International speakers were invited to exchange their ideas and to share their latest findings. One of the speakers was Mr. Michael L Riley, FRICS from the Liverpool John Moores University, UK, who presented a paper on "Facilities & Maintenance Management Best Practice: Lesson to Learn".
