RICS MEDIATION TRAINING COURSE - RICS ACCREDITED MEDIATORS
RICS Dispute Resolution Services has developed a 3 modular skills training course leading to RICS Accredited Mediator status. The full training programme consists of six full days that are divided into three separate modules.
Module 1 (Day 1 & 2)– is an introductory level course which provides the baseline essentials on mediation. It is a stand alone skills training course or can be developed and expanded on by undertaking other modules.
The course gives an overview on the concept of mediation and mediation principles. Candidates will look at routes to mediation (including the preparation & meeting), some basic skills for effective mediation, time-limited mediations & ethics in mediation.
Module 2 (Days 3, 4 & 5) – During days 3 & 4 delegates will consider the attributes of an effective mediator, the mediation day, negotiation phase and strategies, getting to YES, advanced mediator skills, understanding other mediation structure and other ADR processes. These topics being incorporated in role play exercises.
Day 5 is the first part of the assessment process involving role play exercises & written exercise
Module 3 – Each participant will mediate at least one fully observed role play as mediation and private de-brief in group learning and discussion. Each session will be assessed against a notified criteria and set of competencies. Delegates will also be required to submit a written self-assessment of their mediation skill which will also be assessed.
